Solar dos Abacaxis

historic

The bright yellow paint on the Solar dos Abacaxis stands out against the lush greenery of the Cosme Velho neighborhood. Built in the late nineteenth century, this mansion served as the residence for the Commendador Joaquim Antonio de Azevedo, a wealthy merchant who traded in pineapples. The fruit appears in elaborate stucco work on the facade, a permanent nod to the business that funded the construction. It remains one of the few examples of this ornate architectural style still surviving in the city today.
