Coptic Museum

The Coptic Museum houses a limestone facade salvaged from older buildings, covered in intricately carved geometric patterns and floral motifs. It sits inside the walls of the ancient Roman fortress of Babylon, protecting the world’s largest collection of Coptic Christian artifacts. Marcus Simaika Pasha founded this space in nineteen ten to gather scattered relics from churches and monasteries. He once spent his own money to keep the collection together, eventually watching it grow into a home for centuries of Egyptian history.
