Al Istanboly

Al Istanboly distinguishes itself from the neighboring storefronts with its bold, hand-painted signage and the distinct aroma of roasted spices that greets passersby. This shop serves as one of the oldest established spice merchants in the area, maintaining a trade that predates the modern development of Muscat. It began as a small family venture, sourcing cardamom, frankincense, and saffron directly from dhow captains arriving at the port. Today, the shelves remain stocked with these same traditional goods, weighed out by hand.
