Sangchonjae

Sangchonjae is a traditional hanok structure distinguished by its dark, weathered timber framing and the expansive, white-papered sliding doors that line its courtyard. Built originally in the early twentieth century, this residence functioned as the home of the renowned Korean writer Yoon Dong-ju for a short period. It reflects the architecture of the period through its combination of traditional Korean aesthetics and modern spatial influences. Today, it serves as a public space dedicated to preserving the literary history and architectural heritage of the neighborhood.
