Pont del Bisbe

landmark

The Pont del Bisbe connects the Palau de la Generalitat to the Casa dels Canonges with a heavy, stone-carved facade that hangs over the narrow street below. While the Gothic Quarter dates back centuries, this bridge is a product of the nineteen twenties. Architect Joan Rubio i Bellver designed it to recreate a medieval aesthetic, incorporating ornate stone detailing. A legend persists that a skull pierced by a dagger is embedded in the underside, bringing bad luck to anyone who stares at it directly.
