Bourn Mansion

The Bourn Mansion stands at 2550 Webster Street as a prominent example of turn of the century architecture in Pacific Heights. It was designed by the notable architect Willis Polk and completed in 1896 for William Bowers Bourn the second. Bourn was a powerful figure in San Francisco history who controlled the Empire Mine and led the development of what became Pacific Gas and Electric. Even at the height of his immense wealth, Bourn reportedly considered this twenty seven room residence to be a modest town house.
