Saigon Central Post Office

The Saigon Central Post Office displays a bright yellow facade with arched windows and a portrait of Ho Chi Minh set high above the main entrance. Designed by Alfred Foulhoux and completed in eighteen ninety-one, the building served as the main hub for French colonial communications in Indochina. Inside, the massive vaulted ceiling and iron frame look like a nineteenth-century railway station. Duong Van Ngo sat at the end of a wooden desk here for decades, writing letters for illiterate locals until two thousand twenty-two.
