The Mahnmal Rosa Winkel consists of a large, inverted triangle made of pink granite, set directly into the pavement of Nollendorfplatz. It marks the site where the Nazi regime persecuted gay men under paragraph one hundred seventy-five. In nineteen eighty-nine, activist Rüdiger Lautmann and other advocates fought for years to have this stone installed. It remains the first permanent memorial in Germany specifically dedicated to the victims of homosexual persecution during the Third Reich. People frequently leave fresh flowers at the stone base.
