The Sony Center at Potsdamer Platz features a sweeping roof of steel and glass that mimics the shape of Mount Fuji. Helmut Jahn designed this complex in the late nineties to reestablish the area as a commercial hub after decades of it lying as a desolate no-man's-land during the division of Berlin. Before the cranes arrived, this patch of ground held nothing but the ghosts of the Berlin Wall. Workers found unexploded ordnance from the second world war buried deep beneath the rubble.
