Narukawa Art Museum

The Narukawa Art Museum features a glass-walled gallery that offers an unobstructed view of Mount Fuji across the expanse of Lake Ashi. Toko Narukawa founded the museum in nineteen eighty-eight to house his collection of modern Japanese paintings. He insisted that the gallery architecture provide an immersive perspective of the mountain rather than serve as a static backdrop. One visitor once remarked that the shifting weather over the lake made the same painting feel like an entirely different work by the evening.
