The Star Case in Suginami stands out for its curved, metallic facade that looks like a slice of a polished space station dropped into a quiet residential neighborhood. This is a small, specialized residential building designed by architect Yutaka Hirai. While most apartments in the area rely on standard rectangular concrete shapes, this building uses its tight corner lot to push a sharp, aerodynamic curve toward the intersection, creating a distinct visual break from the surrounding low-rise wooden houses and gray walls.
