Canglang Pavilion

The Canglang Pavilion features a series of open windows that line the exterior wall, framing views of the garden as if they were ink wash paintings. Built during the Northern Song Dynasty by the poet Su Shunqin, the garden centers on a manmade hill covered in ancient trees. Su purchased the land after his forced retirement from official life, naming the pavilion after a line of verse about cleaning one's hat strings in clear water. He spent his remaining years writing poetry here.
