The White Night bar occupies a quiet corner in the Wuhou District, marked by a low, unassuming facade and a cluster of bamboo plants near the entrance. Poet Zhai Yongming opened this space in nineteen ninety-eight, intending to create a salon for writers and artists to gather. While Chengdu transformed around it, the bar remained a steady destination for poetry readings and discussions. Zhai often sat behind the bar herself, hosting literary nights that stretched until the early morning hours.
