NUS Baba House

museum

The NUS Baba House features a vibrant blue exterior with intricately carved wooden shutters, standing out among the surrounding urban landscape. This restored nineteenth century shophouse served as the ancestral home of the Wee family for generations. Unlike most buildings of its era, the house retains its original layout and domestic furnishings, showing how Straits Chinese families lived during the nineteen twenties. Wee Bin, a shipping magnate, built the structure, and his descendants preserved its elaborate porcelain tiles and carved gilded woodwork.
