Real Casa de Correos

The Real Casa de Correos features a red brick facade framed by white stone, capped with a clock tower that dominates the Puerta del Sol. Originally built in the eighteenth century as the city's main post office, the building transitioned into the headquarters for the Spanish Ministry of the Interior. During the Civil War, secret police interrogated prisoners in its basement. Today, it serves as the seat of the Presidency of the Community of Madrid, housing offices for the regional government officials.
