Triana Bridge

The Isabella the Second Bridge, known to everyone here as the Triana Bridge, stretches across the Guadalquivir River with three distinct iron arches. It replaced a precarious wooden pontoon bridge that had bobbed in the current since the twelfth century. Engineers finished this metal structure in eighteen fifty-two, using the same iron casting techniques found in the Eiffel Tower. It connected the city center to the neighborhood of Triana, finally giving the potters and sailors on the far bank a permanent way home.
