The Hermandad de Montserrat is marked by a modest, sober facade on the Calle Cristo del Calvario that hides one of the most intense artistic collections in Seville. This chapel houses two primary sculptures that define the brotherhood: a seventeenth-century Christ by Juan de Mesa and a sorrowful Virgin Mary carved by Gaspar della Cueva. During Holy Week, the brothers carry these heavy wooden images through the city streets on ornate silver floats, a tradition they have maintained since sixteen hundred and one.
