Wat Ratchanatdaram Worawihan

Wat Ratchanatdaram features thirty-seven blackened metal spires rising in a pyramid shape, known as the Loha Prasat. King Rama the Third commissioned this temple in eighteen forty-six for his granddaughter. The design draws inspiration from ancient structures in India and Sri Lanka that no longer exist. While the rest of the temple complex serves as a quiet sanctuary for monks, the metal castle remains the only one of its kind in the city, dominating the view with its dark, repeating geometry.
