Talat Noi Street Art

The walls of Talat Noi bloom with murals tucked into narrow, nameless alleyways. This neighborhood began as a refuge for Hokkien Chinese immigrants in the nineteenth century, and these paintings trace their history through intricate portraits and scenes of daily trade. Artist Phairoj Kanta painted the most recognizable figure here: a weathered elder whose eyes follow passersby from a crumbling brick wall. The paint is peeling in places, blending directly into the history of the old shophouses that stand behind them.
