The Neilson Hays Library features a distinct rotunda capped by a low, weathered dome, sitting quietly behind a colonnaded porch. It was built in nineteen twenty-two to house the collection of the Bangkok Ladies Library Association. Jennie Neilson Hays, the wife of a local doctor, was the driving force behind the organization, and after her death, her husband funded this permanent home in her memory. The architect, Mario Tamagno, designed it with the high ceilings and open ventilation needed for the humid climate.
