Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery Office

historic

Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Menlo Park began as a nonsectarian burial ground in the eighteen sixties before the local Church of the Nativity purchased the site in eighteen eighty-three. The land was then consecrated as a Catholic cemetery, serving the growing pioneer families of the Peninsula. Its initial layout and landscaping were the work of Michael Lynch, a prominent Irish horticulturist who also shaped the grounds of Stanford University and many of the region’s grand nineteenth-century estates. You can still find his final resting place here among the people he helped memorialize.
