Menlo Park station

The Menlo Park station holds the distinction of being the oldest railroad passenger station in California that is still in continuous operation. Constructed in eighteen sixty-seven, the building originally served as a simple structure for travelers before receiving elaborate Victorian-style renovations in the eighteen nineties. These upgrades were intentionally designed to impress the students and families arriving at the newly established Stanford University nearby. Over the decades, the depot has evolved alongside the community, expanding during the first World War to manage the sudden influx of military personnel stationed at the local Camp Fremont.
