Astor Place Theatre

The Astor Place Theatre occupies a building that was originally constructed in eighteen thirty-one as part of Colonnade Row. These Greek Revival townhouses featured striking marble columns and were intended to serve as elegant residences for some of the wealthiest families in New York City, including the Astors and the Vanderbilts. While today the structure is recognized as an Off-Broadway venue, it retains its designation as a New York City landmark, preserving a physical connection to the city's early nineteenth-century elite housing.
