Staple Street Skybridge

The Staple Street Skybridge connects two buildings over a narrow, two-block lane in the heart of Tribeca. It was built in 1907 by the architectural firm Robertson and Potter. At the time, the bridge served the New York Hospital House of Relief, allowing staff to travel between their main medical facility at 67 Hudson Street and an auxiliary building used for laundry and ambulance storage across the street. A terra-cotta shield bearing the initials N.Y.H. remains mounted on the brickwork of the annex as a relic of its original function.
