Las cuartetas

food drink

The walls of Las Cuartetas are lined with mirrors, yellowed tiles, and portraits of famous tango singers who once claimed these tables as their own. It started in the nineteen thirties as a popular pit stop for the city’s theater crowd because the owners sold pizza by the slice, a break from the traditional sit-down meal. Alberto Vaccarezza, a local poet, supposedly wrote his famous verse about the place right here on a napkin between performances at the nearby Corrientes theaters.
