Camara Oscura

The Camera Obscura sits atop the Edificio Gomez Vila, distinguished by a tall, narrow tower that overlooks the Plaza Vieja. Inside the darkened chamber at the top, a system of lenses and mirrors projects live, panoramic images of the city onto a curved white table. Gonzalo de Quesada, a local enthusiast, brought this device from Spain in the late nineties. It offers a glimpse of street life from a distance, where neighbors move across the plaza like tiny, silent figures in a light show.
