Jardin du Carrousel

The Jardin du Carrousel sits between the Louvre and the Tuileries, defined by rows of white marble statues commissioned by Aristide Maillol. These sculptures depict female nudes, positioned deliberately to contrast with the rigid geometric layout of the gravel paths. This space once served as a private courtyard for the palace, filled with carriages and guards. When the Tuileries Palace burned in eighteen seventy-one, the site transformed into this open garden, bridging the gap between the royal residence and the public park.
