The Allée Samuel Beckett serves as a quiet threshold into the Parc de Montsouris, honoring the Irish playwright who became a central figure of the French literary canon. While many visitors walk this path to reach the park’s lawns and lake, it carries the name of a man who spent much of his life in this neighborhood. Beckett lived nearby for decades, and the 14th arrondissement remains deeply connected to his history, from his final days in a local nursing home to the nearby Montparnasse Cemetery where he is buried under a simple, grey stone.
