Montrouge Cemetery

The Montrouge Cemetery began its existence in eighteen nineteen as a burial ground for the commune of Montrouge. It stood outside the official city limits of Paris until nineteen twenty five, when a change in the capital's borders brought the site under the administration of the City of Paris. This location is tucked between the major thoroughfares of the Boulevards of the Marshals and the ring road known as the Boulevard Périphérique. Even though it is now a Parisian cemetery, the grounds retain a strong connection to the history of the Montrouge neighborhood, including a granite stele that honors ninety six soldiers from the town who died during the First World War.
