Parc Georges-Brassens

landmark

Parc Georges Brassens features a towering, brick-red bell tower rising above the trees. This structure remains from the vast Vaugirard horse slaughterhouses that occupied this ground for over a century. When the city replaced the industrial complex with a park in nineteen eighty-four, planners kept the slaughterhouse clock tower and the iron auction hall frame to anchor the new landscape. A stone statue of a bull stands near the gate, marking the site of a trade that once fueled the neighborhood economy.
