The Manufacture des tabacs stands as a major landmark of industrial history in Issy-les-Moulineaux. Built between nineteen hundred and nineteen hundred and four, it was designed as a high-capacity state factory to replace the older Gros-Caillou site in Paris. The facility functioned under the state tobacco monopoly, producing iconic cigarette brands like Gitanes and Boyard. It once supported a workforce of over twelve hundred people, the majority of whom were women. The factory remained in operation until nineteen seventy-eight, marking the end of a significant era for the local economy.
