Hôtel de Ville, Malakoff

The Hôtel de Ville in Malakoff wears a facade of distinctively sharp, vertical stonework topped by a prominent clock tower. Built in the late nineteenth century, this town hall replaced a much smaller administrative building as the local population surged during the industrial expansion of Paris. Mayor Charles Vallin insisted on a structure that mirrored the town's growing status as an independent working-class commune. Inside, the grand staircase still features murals added later to commemorate the local workers who helped shape the town's identity.
