Hôtel de Ville, Malakoff

landmark

The current Hôtel de Ville of Malakoff stands on the Place du 11 Novembre 1918 as a distinct example of twentieth-century modern architecture. Completed in 1976, the building was designed by architect Serge Lana, a figure whose own life was marked by the upheaval of the Second World War. Its structure of red brick and glass reflects a deliberate choice to remain accessible and open, purposefully avoiding the grand, imposing scale typical of many municipal buildings from the same era.
