Hôtel de Ville, Montrouge

The Hôtel de Ville of Montrouge stands out with its clean, modern lines and extensive use of glass, reflecting a shift toward contemporary public architecture in the late twentieth century. Designed by architect Jacques Kalisz and inaugurated in nineteen eighty-four, this building replaced an older town hall that could no longer accommodate the growing needs of a suburban population. Its stark geometry and open facade were meant to dissolve the traditional barriers between local government administration and the daily lives of the citizens.
