The Cité internationale universitaire de Paris appears as a sprawling collection of architectural styles, ranging from modernist concrete to traditional Dutch brick, all set within a large park. Founded in nineteen twenty-five by André Honnorat and Émile Deutsch de la Meurthe, it emerged from the rubble of the Great War as an experiment in pacifism through education. Students from across the globe lived in houses representing their nations, intended to foster peace by bringing the world’s youth together in one garden.
