Maison du Brésil

The Maison du Brésil stands out for its bold, raw concrete pillars that lift the entire building off the ground, leaving a large open space beneath. Designed by Le Corbusier and Brazilian architect Lúcio Costa in nineteen fifty-nine, it serves as a residence for Brazilian students and researchers in Paris. When a fire damaged much of the interior in nineteen seventy-one, the original wooden partitions were stripped away, leaving a starker, minimalist layout that persists today as a hallmark of modernist housing.
