École Estienne

The École Estienne features a long, yellow brick facade on the Boulevard Auguste Blanqui, punctuated by large, light-filled windows designed for studio work. Established in eighteen eighty-nine by the city of Paris, this school trains book designers, typographers, and engravers. Henri Estienne, a sixteenth-century printer, gave the school its name to link modern vocational training with the history of the printing press. Students here still learn to set type by hand, balancing digital technology with the weight of tradition.
