Jardin des Plantes

The Jardin des Plantes features a long, perfectly symmetrical central lawn flanked by two rows of grand plane trees. It began in sixteen thirty-five as a royal medicinal garden for King Louis the Thirteenth, designed to train physicians in the study of plants. Guy de La Brosse, the king’s personal doctor, spent years convincing the crown to establish this space for public scientific research. It remains a dense, living library of nature, rooted in its original mission to catalog the world’s botanical diversity.
