National Museum of Natural History

The National Museum of Natural History stands out for its grand iron and glass gallery, the Grande Galerie de l’Evolution, which houses hundreds of taxidermy animals frozen in a procession toward a central light. King Louis the thirteenth founded this site as a royal medicinal garden in sixteen thirty-five. Years later, it became the country's primary hub for scientific research. When the French Revolution hit, the institution kept its doors open by renaming itself a public research center, surviving the upheaval that destroyed so many other royal institutions.
