The Porte du Bas-Meudon sits along the edge of the fifteenth arrondissement, defined by a stark, functional concrete archway that slices through the old city fortifications. It served as a vital industrial gateway for the Citroen factories once humming nearby. Workers poured through this passage by the thousands during the nineteen twenties and thirties. One afternoon in nineteen thirty-six, a massive strike blocked this very entrance, stopping production entirely until management agreed to paid vacations and shorter work weeks for the laborers.
