Jardin des Serres d’Auteuil

Five grand iron-framed greenhouses painted a distinctive pale green dominate the Jardin des Serres d’Auteuil. King Louis the Fifteenth commissioned this site in seventeen sixty-one to supply plants for his royal tables. Jean-Camille Formigé later designed these specific structures for the eighteen ninety-eight Horticultural Exhibition. While the city eventually turned these gardens into a botanical complex, the palm house still preserves the original nineteenth-century vision of housing tropical species within an elegant, light-filled structure of glass and wrought metal.
