The Yusupov House

The Yusupov House stands out for its high stone walls that turn a cold shoulder to the street, hiding a mansion designed for a life of Russian exile. Prince Felix Yusupov, the man who famously led the plot to kill Rasputin, lived here after fleeing the revolution in nineteen seventeen. He and his wife, Princess Irina, filled these rooms with treasures spirited out of Saint Petersburg, including Rembrandt portraits they sold off piece by piece to keep their household running for decades.
