Immeubles Walter

The Immeubles Walter forms an immense, uniform limestone block that stretches along the Avenue Raphael with heavy, neoclassical precision. Architect Jean Walter designed this residential complex in the early nineteen thirties to cater to the ultra-wealthy of the sixteenth arrondissement. While the facade projects a severe, traditional style, Walter actually used a steel frame hidden inside the stone walls to support the building. That skeleton allowed him to construct massive apartments with private gardens overlooking the Bois de Boulogne for elite residents.
