Musée Clemenceau

The apartment at eight Rue Franklin holds the ground floor rooms where Georges Clemenceau lived for the last thirty-four years of his life. Behind the unassuming facade sits a small, secluded garden containing the tall bamboo he planted himself. Clemenceau led France through the most difficult days of the Great War from this desk, yet he refused to move into official government residences. He preferred his own worn furniture and the view of his roses, which he tended even when nearly blind.
