Musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac

The Musée du quai Branly features a living green wall that climbs its entire northern facade, a vertical garden of over fifteen thousand plants from across the globe. Conceived by architect Jean Nouvel and botanist Patrick Blanc, the museum houses indigenous art from Africa, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas. Jacques Chirac pushed for its creation to bring non-Western cultures into the heart of Paris. It opened in two thousand six on a site where President Chirac had once proposed a conference center instead.
