Musée Rodin

The Hôtel Biron features a high, curved facade of pale stone crowned by an intricate ironwork gate. Auguste Rodin moved into this eighteenth-century mansion in nineteen oh eight, filling the overgrown garden with his bronzes. He struck a deal with the French government to donate his entire collection on the condition that they turn the building into a museum dedicated to his work. Inside the drafty rooms, he lived among his sculptures until he died in the autumn of nineteen seventeen.
