Hôtel Biron

The Hotel Biron stands out for its deep, lush garden hidden behind a high stone wall and an ornate, curved facade that faces the Rue de Varenne. Built in the seventeen twenties for a wealthy wigmaker, the mansion eventually became a boarding house for artists. In nineteen oh eight, a struggling sculptor named Auguste Rodin moved into a ground-floor studio. He stayed until his death, slowly filling the rooms and the overgrown grounds with his plaster casts, sketches, and antique collections.
