Villa Cook - Le Corbusier

The Villa Cook stands out with its smooth, white facade and a horizontal ribbon window that slices across the upper level. Built in nineteen twenty-six for the American journalist William Cook, this house remains one of the purest examples of early modernist residential design. Le Corbusier stripped away all ornamentation to focus on light, space, and a rooftop garden. When the structure was finished, the neighbors in Boulogne-Billancourt protested, complaining that the flat, boxy shape ruined the character of their traditional street.
