Bibliothèque Marmottan

The Bibliothèque Marmottan displays a distinct red brick facade with stone trim, standing out against the surrounding greenery of Boulogne-Billancourt. Paul Marmottan, a nineteenth-century collector, built this residence specifically to house his obsession with the Napoleonic era. He spent decades acquiring rare books, paintings, and furniture from the First Empire. When he died in nineteen thirty-two, he bequeathed the entire mansion and his collection to the Academie des Beaux-Arts, turning his private study into a scholarly sanctuary for researchers.
