Porte Molitor de Paris

historic

The Piscine Molitor features two large pools surrounded by three tiers of Art Deco balconies painted in a distinct, golden yellow. Opened in nineteen twenty-nine, the complex served as a fashionable public bathing spot where Parisian swimmers first debuted the bikini in nineteen forty-six. After falling into ruin and serving as a canvas for graffiti artists for decades, the site reopened as a luxury hotel. The pool remains the centerpiece, surrounded by those same yellow galleries that once hosted famous swimming competitions.
