Fontaines "Sources de la Seine" de Paul Landowski

A limestone nymph reclines over a basin of water, carved by Paul Landowski to mark the official source of the Seine. This monument arrived in nineteen thirty-seven, a gift from the city of Paris to the village of Saint-Seine-l'Abbaye. Landowski spent years studying the river before picking up his chisel, aiming to capture the spirit of the water itself. He shaped the stone figure to appear as if she is emerging from the rock, pouring life into the stream below.
